We are always willing to release jungle tracks and this time we have the pleasure to release a two-tracker by an artist we have been following for a long time and that we think you will find interesting: Utami Hasegawa, an artist who combines an anime vibe, a jungle sound, and a personality fueled by otaku culture and fighter jet games.
Born to Jamaican immigrant parents in the northeastern US, Chris Haughton grew up playing the drums in school bands and the keyboard in his free time, inspired by reggae, hip-hop, funk, and R&B tunes blasting from the family stereo. He would go on to start producing in 2020, combining his musical inspiration with every other inspiration he gained throughout life (Anime and otaku culture, giant robots, aviation, and others) to produce in the genre he’d come to love most over decades: Drum and Bass.
His persona, Utami Hasegawa, is a fun-loving, cheerful anime girl from a world of fighter jets and air combat. She leads an airborne pirate radio station that broadcasts breakbeat music worldwide.
Utami, both the character and the artist, leads the doujin (independent) music circle [TEMPO], producing music for indie game and animation projects.
